Hi all

I recently inquired a 1997 Accord SE, Auto trans. This has the f22b1 if I am not mistaken. This has become my DD. I drive roughly 70 miles a day so I need something that is reliable.

I'm looking to keep the f22b1 until it blows up so I then can swap in a h22 with a good reason .

What are some good options with this motor? I'd like to be in the 200 HPish range if possible.

1.) Am i able to slap an H22 head on the f22 block? Is this even worth it?
2.) I definently need to get rid of this Auto transmission, which one would be the best replacement?
3.) It looks like there is no SC available for the f22b1 which leaves me the option of going turbo. How do the internals hold up with FI?

I am open to all suggestions just looking to pep this 4 door up!

obviously youre a newbie....;)

yes the h22 head will go on the f22, but not without modification. this is worth it if you are going to go turbo because you can throw forged pistons in the f22 where you cannot in the h22.

stock f22 motors are good for about 250whp
stock h22 motors are good for about 300whp

Right I am a newb to the F/H series.

What about the transmission what would be a good manual replacement?

me . personally think that swapping a h23 head and boosting is the best option for the f series motor, you can bolt up the h23 head without any modification , need the ecu crank pulley thermostat housing and a few other minor things , but this gives great tunning options for the turbo and plus hard to find valvetrain componets with a resonable price for the f22b1 , versus the h series , they are there all day long, plus the h23 im is at least twice as big as the f series , so there is a power gain there , with a good turbo setup as the t3t4 turbonetics and h23 head , a good dyno tune and youll see numbers around 230 if you have other goodies on there , look for a little more

for an all motor setup the h22 tranny or a b16 (with the h2b adapter) would be best, but both would be expensive

for turbo the f22,h23 trannys work great because of their longer gears.
