my roommate just bought a 97' 240sx with 155k on the stock motor, and is looking for a major boost in power. He has 5 grand to spend. He is torn between an sr20 swap, or freshening up the KA and turboing that. I'm sure this has been covered a bazilion times on nissan forums... I just wanted to hear what you guys have to say.

go with the sr20det or be a little diffrent rb25det. the ka just ant as reliable as those

that would be nice, but we want to do the work in 2 weekends, and its a DD
I personally swapped one in 2 days

there were three of us doing the swap. One knows LS1s inside and out, I know the S chassis inside and out and the other guy was just a wiring madman.

Theres only 2 of us... me (the honda guy), and my friend (automotive newbie)

just depends on what you want

The KA is a lower reving torquey engine

he SR has a longer power band, is lighter, and more effectively centers the weight of the vehicle...

i have an sr swap in my nissan. you can get it done for about $3500. if you have never done a nissan swap, i suggest you let the pros do it. i love my swap. if he has 5k, get the swap done, then get a really good suspension. those are the 2 key parts to those cars.

don't waste time with the ka-t. it's kinda like turbo'ing an itr swap. you can do it, but it isn't going to be the best motor ever. unless you do a full rebuild with low comp pistons.
