My current job does not use SAP, but it's big in my job catagory. So I'm looking to get some formal training and certifications. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in SAP and could offer some advice in wich certs to get. The classes are not cheap 2-4k each, so I can't afford to start taking random courses. I don't wanna ask around here at work cause I love what I'm doing now, but if word got out I had certs in SAP they would prolly move me to a diffrent job, and being it's the same job catagory I would keep the same pay. More headache more responsibility for the same money isn't for me. Plus I'd be in the limelight more, where I'm at now I can keep a low profile.

If you're taking a class that isn't going to get more money - then is it really necessary to take the class?

not necessary for this job, but it couldn't hurt. Also out there in the real world better money is being made at this, and if this job goes away it would make finding a new one that much easier. I'm a government contractor so technically my job could go away in an instant.

Continuing education is the best gift you can give yourself.

I use SAP's SRM in a limited manner at work, but never recieved any formal training. Just a few days with co-workers to get me up to speed on exactly what I need it for. :( I'm pretty much training them now, but only because I fool around with it all day and learn as I go.

2-4k/class and not knowing if it will benefit you/increase your pay is not money or time well spent in my opinion. If the company is paying for it and investing in your education then its a different story...

company does offer tuition rembursement. I quallify for grant's(single parent), so either way no money out of my pocket. looking towards the future, incase this job ends with the war. With the experience i have here plus certification should be able to get a decent if not good paying job with a fortune 500 company( i believe that they all use SAP).

SAP AG (ISIN: DE0007164600, FWB: SAP, NYSE: SAP) is the largest European software enterprise and the third largest in the world, with headquarters in Walldorf, Germany.

Oh sure....that explains everything. :D

Sorry to clutter your thread w/ my ignorance.
