Once again, Honda noob here. I am thinking I just want to get a d-series set up for now and play with my b20 on an engine stand but I still want decent power on a budget. I was thinking maybe a d16? I was looking at an engine list and I saw some of the earlier integra's came with a dohc d16 and pumped out like 130hp stock. So my first question is does anyone have that engine list? It showed engine size/power/torque/and how many cams. Second question is what do you guys think about that d series teg motor? Is there a large quantity of aftermarket parts available? I want to build a b20 on the side but still be able to drive the rex around town. I was choosing between that teg motor and the civic si motor, what do you guys think?

Is the motor that's currently in your car broken down? If not, then I'd just leave it stock and put your money towards the B20 build. That way it'll be done and in your car that much faster. I just don't see the point in spending money on an engine and after-market parts for it if it's not what you really want...just have a little patience, you'll get to where you wanna be...

well... the car has nothing in it. it's completely stripped. i just bought a crx shell as a project. i did have too many cars for my appartment though so when it came to the running grandam and the stripped out rex, i picked the rex. so now i carpool with my wife. luckily we work at the same dealership. but i would like to have it up and running. the good news is i get my parts for free. my dad works for a recycling place so im meeting him this weekend in california to go "shopping". I could just get the b20 and start my crvtec, I just didn't think it would go back into the car that quick. The b20 seems like a lot of money. I am on a pretty modest budget too if I hadn't already mentioned that. So I figured just a d series for now to get it running would work. I'm just really lost because there are so many different combos and methods to building a crx. I'm on Honda overload. What is everyone else running? I know a guy at work who is running a civic coupe with an ls motor. He said the ls/vtec is a much better combo than the b20/vtec, but I like all the torque of the b20 frank motor. my first car was a dodge charger with a 400 big block backed up by a 727 torqueflite. I then bought an srt-4 and was running 17lbs of boost. I got rid of that because I couldn't afford the upgrades or the payments. So torque and good staging mean a lot to me. I really just don't know where to start. I love the platform I picked, crx's are awesome. But if I do get the b series, what axles do I use? What more do I have to do other than changing the dpfi to mpdi? If I change my engine harness, do I need to change my interior harness or will my new harness just plug into it and work fine? I really don't want to piss you guys off with my naivity but I'm lost.

sounds like a plan. d16a6, I will definately pick this one up. Even my dad is pushing me to put a b series in my car and he hates sport compacts. he's grabbing a 440 when we go to the junk yard. well thanks for the advise guys, any advise as to where to research or just search the web?

ok, so i picked a motor. i went and got a d16z6, i looked for a d16a1 but couldn't find one. the motor runs and shows good compression, but here's my next question. do i use the ecu it had in it or do i get an integra ecu. I have heard a bunch of people say you can run a certain integ ecu, but what would i need to run it? also, if i don't want to rewire my harness, can i just use the full harness, interior and engine to run the engine? like i said earlier, i'd look it up if i knew where to.

nm... just found another part of the site. sorry for being annoying guys, i'm learning.
