Ok So I Have Bought A 95 Civic With A D15b Swap In And I Don't Think The Guy I Bought It From Did It Right. How Would I Know If He Connected The Vtec And Installed Other Necessary Components.

What is with the caps??? I refuse to answer any questions that are typed like that. 1 it is a waste of your time to type like that and 2 it wastes my time to try and read it like that. Oh and fix your profile. It says you have a D15b vtech.

well i can't really tell since i haven't really been able to run it due to the fact that its not able to pass smog and it's not yet registered to me. so if i fix the problems it has i may be able to fix them so that it will be street legal

well you need to tell us what codes you have before we can help

ok thats alot of codes, i would check to see what ecu you have in there i thinks its the wrong one

i know thats why i think that all the guy i bought the car from did is change the engine and not anything else. i think it might help to just change everything to obd2 because i don't think he did that either. it has a 97 d15b vtec.

well if the motor is obd2 you have two choices make it obd1 or convert your car to obd2, and you will need the ecu that came with that motor for it to work right untill then, there will always be a problem

first you need to see witch one you have in the car

Ya man. Sounds like you have LOTS of electrical problems.

A p28 would run the engine. I'm not exactly sure what you have on your hands though. Does it have an obd2 distributor, alternator, and injectors or are they obd1?

If the distributor is obd1 it would have two clips as compared to one on the obd2. The injectors would have little metal clips if they are obd1 but that doesn't really matter I guess if he soldered in the obd2 clips. The obd1 alternator would have a round clip on it. If everything on the motor is obd1 then you should be able to run a P28 ecu no problem.

i'm not sure i'll post some pics of the engine and see for yourself so you could tell me what do you think it needs

Wow man. I recently did a d15b vtec swap in my '93 and it was easy as fuck. I don't know how you could fuck that up.

Anyway, are you sure it's a '97 motor? If it is then it's just an economy vtec I believe and won't be as fast as a 5th gen. Shit I'd just buy a 5th gen (92-95) OBD-1 D15b Vtec with the p08 ecu that's what I did with mine but I swapped over from a d15b7 nonvtec.

Code 21 is a vtec code at least mine is anyway.

Code 20 is knock sensor I believe which means you probably do have the obd-2 motor because I think the 5th gens didn't even have a knock sensor.

It'd be best to either convert to OBD-1 or just buy an OBD-1 D15B motor, they're only $400 and supposedly the best d-series motor stock.

Oh, and how do you know it won't pass smog? The guy that swapped it should have kept the 4-wire o2 sensor so that shouldn't have been a problem.

Good luck with the car.
