I just swapped to an ls, mine is doing the same thing, sputters when its below 3000 rpm. I think its the position of the distributor but i know for sure i have a leak somewhere in the throttle body. I think changing gaskets will do the trick but does anyone know the correct dist. postition for...

My buddy's 99 ex does that so did my 94 but the headgasket just went out on it so be careful man. I agree with these guys, sounds like an o2 sensor to me.
