If you did choose to run them as nitrous buttons: 1) i would put an arming switch on it so you don't accidentally hit it as your downshifting into turn one! 2) i would put a relay between it and the nitrous solenoid because usually the horn buttons aren't rated for more that ten amps. IMO.
My guess would be that some of the teeth of a gear have come off and have wedged them self in the teeth of another gear, effectively seizing the tranny.

Did you do a wiring harness swap? If it still the stock harness, then it will be a grey four wire square plug with the wire colors: Green, White, White/black, and Black/Yellow going into it. this is the plug for the primary o2 sensor atleast. I'm not going to crawl under my car today to check...
