57 MPG.....Wow. Ok now the dumb questions. I've got a Z1 block with everything else (head, i/e and tranny) from my Z6. How do I get even close to that??? I just ran my first tank thru on this set up and got 35MPG doing 50 to 65 on mostly curving rolling hills. I'm really jealous!
I'm getting 35 MPG mostly country roads (50 to 65 MPH on rolling hills and curves) and a little suburban driving (35 to 50 with a few lights). It seems really slow though so I've done some more reading. I've read that there's an oil jet on D15 blocks that you're supposed to remove for the Vtec...
I was going to get another Z6 but came across a Z1 before I picked up the Z6. I bolted all Z6 stuff from my car onto the Z1 block and got the car running. I went to get the Z6 but it was no good so I still have the Z1.
I put the Z1 in with Z6 head, intake and exhaust. Z1 exhaust manifold would not bolt up to the existing exhaust pipe because the bolt pattern is different. Kinda doggy. The stroker sounds interesting. Can you tell me more?
I don't know if this is relevant or not but.....92-95 DX/LX is a D15B7, will the exhaust manifold from the Z1 head bolt up to the existing exhaust? I just replaced a Z6 bottom with a Z1 bottom and the manifolds are different, the existing exhaust would not bolt up to the Z1 manifold so I used...
I reseated the plugs, pulled the back up fuse and checked again. This time it flashed one. I reseated the plug again, pulled the back up fuse and No CEL!!! Moral of the story is you have to get it plugged in real good to keep her satisfied.
I put a D15Z1 in my 95 Del Sol with the ECU and D16Z6 head that came in the car. It fired right up and seems to run good but the CEL is on. I flashed the codes by using a jumper and it has one long flash followed by eight short flashes. I'd say that is 18 but there is not an 18 listed????? I did...
One thing I failed to mention:
I seperated the motor from the tranny and pulled only the motor. What a B----. How do you keep the crank from spinning to remove the harmonic balancer???
I ended up putting the Z6 head and i/e (I know what i/e means now, learn something new everyday-lol) on the Z1 motor. Few minor problems:
1) I had a broken wire on top plug on passenger wheel well. IDK what this wire does but I pushed the pin out soldered in a splice and it's back together...
