The manual says to just press the new seal into the housing. I am wondering because when I removed the old seals, there was some kind of glue or gasket material on them.

Do I need to put any hondabond on the seals before installing them in the oil pump and right side cover?

I just finished painting my EW1 block. The prep work was a pain but it came out pretty good.

Got it off with a hammer. A couple of taps broke it loose.

I am rebuilding my EW1 and I am stuck trying to get the oil pump off. I have all the bolts off but it is sealed on to the block. Any tricks to getting this off?

I took it to a shop and the guy had it off in 2 seconds with an impact wernch. He wouldnt take a tip either. Thanks for the idea K2e2vin

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that adhesion promoter a try. I think i'll go with black for the bay and a yellow on the engine.

What exactly should I do to prep the old paint? I was planning on just sanding all the old grease and grime off the old paint and wiping it down with a tack cloth before I paint. Should that be good enough? I have most of it done except some on the drovers side. This is what it looks like...

This is a daily driver so it doesnt need to be a perfect paint job. I just want it to hold up and look clean. I was also thinking about painting the engine block. Is that going overboard?
