I doubt I'll take it there with the 5 spd. I'm swapping it to an auto in the next couple of months for the sake of longevity--I'll probably take it to the track after that and get kicked out after a pass or two (GIR has pretty strict tech)

Stock trans, Fidanza 4.3 sprung 6 puck clutch (that somehow held 580 ft-lbs). Forged engine, Walbro 255 in tank and a Bosch 044 inline feeding FIC 1150's, which were at 97% IDC. E85 blows

Thanks. Believe it or not, I hook fine on the street from a roll... not sure how it will go if I try to launch it. There's not as much money in the car as you would imagine either. Nothing about the car makes sense, including the owner.

    Journal vs Ball Bearings

They were originally created as a stronger alternative to a regular journal bearing. It is not an internet myth.

YouTube - MVI_1165.AVI The camera was like 10 ft behind the car on one of those small desktop tripods... it almost couldn't handle the powa lol

    First trip to the track..

Yeah, I was sitting on the 2-step trying to build enough boost. Unfortunately I might've been a little too easy on the 1-2 shift, which really hurt the 60' time.

    First trip to the track..

This was last fall, for the last test and tune of the season. I only got one run in because it was so crowded, but it was pretty fun. There are probably a million ricer excuses why it wasn't faster, but it is what it is! YouTube - Tom's Run

    question on a garrett turbo

You have to tap into some coolant lines, probably off the front water pipe. You need oil as it provides the film separating the turbine shaft from contacting the walls of the CHRA.

    question on a garrett turbo

People often do bypass them. If you choose to do so, make sure you give your car adequate time to cool down after spirited driving to avoid coking the oil inside the CHRA.

CRX b18 ls turbo 450 whp

Sort of an old thread, but I'll ad this for whoever searches. At 43 psi base fuel pressure, 450cc injectors will be flowing 3.01 lbs/min of fuel at 100% IDC. To get 450 whp, you'll need anywhere from 41-50 lbs/min of airflow, depending on how efficient your setup and tuning is (essentially...

    My 98 GSX

So the car's finally been properly cleaned in the ~21 months I've owned it. It's about time to show it off. There was a LOT of work to do, and everyone knows I'm lazy, so a friend decided to step in. Car was washed, went over with a claybar, polished, and waxed. I ended up cleaning the...

    Help with buying DSLR

If you shoot Canon, get a used 30D/40D instead of a new XSi. The improvement to interface and build is worth it. The newer 18-55 IS kit lens is actually pretty decent if you can get your hands on one of those. As far as extra equipment goes, I would recommend a bag and a Canon flash. For the...

    awd talon

On an old engine? You're going to take the whole engine apart and not get the cylinders honed? I guarantee you you'll need to go at least .020 over. There are 1g 7 bolt engines and 2g 7 bolt engines. The crankwalk hysteria generally only applies to the 2g 7 bolt engines, although I had one...
