Hell is just a tool used to scare Christians into repenting and believing in something no one can prove even exists. Church is just a business.

Maybe...I certainly don't make money as a volunteer music minister, and my pastor made more money as a driver for Wonder Bread.

You all certainly have a narrow view of Christianity, and your views aren't even correct.

word

it's easy to look at the worst 10% of something and dismiss it all together as terrible, but that's the MO Progressive Liberalism

Atheists claim they don't believe in god because it's unreasonable, and then go on to make claims which make even less sense. Does anyone remember my thread about the whales in Noah's ark?

I've been agnostic for about 10 years but I recently went to Mass and do you know what, I liked it. I'm going to go a few more times and then decide if I'm going ton convert or not.

Music minister? Make money... ever? Um... no. I have two friends who are ministers, one is a music and one is a youth minister. Neither of them make money. It's a volunteer job.

Anyway, church isn't a business? Is that why the pastor of a certain church here in town:

a. Bought a 15,000 dollar phone system, of which he put a cash deposit of 7500 down upon contract signing? Was it all counterfeit then?

b. Drives a 150,000 dollar Mercedes Benz?

c. Oh and did I forget to mention that Churches don't pay taxes, on any income or expenses, ever?

Church = a business.

Organized religion = a fucked up joke based on running the business and making money.

That's just, you know, my take on it coming off what I've personally been involved in and seen.

Man, I wish I was like you guys and knew everything.

Agreed 300%.

During the past month I've been thinking a lot about religion for some odd reason and I don't know why. I've always believed, but never took the next step or really agreed with how religion is portrayed. I'm reading this thread, and out of nowhere I am angered by someone bad mouthing Christianity. Hmmm... Not starting anything, just throwing in my 2 cents.

Well, none of us know EVERYTHING. that would be statistically impossible to prove. We can be of above average intelligence, but that's not saying much these days.

Now, to discuss the religious aspect... if any of you have taken world religions, you'd notice that all religions have core values that are the same whichever one you look at. Considering the fact that religion has been handed down through the centuries, would it be so crazy to say that it's true? There should be no argument about which religion is right, because basically, each is correct. If you mess up, truly are sorry, and either correct the issue by not doing it again, or seriously change your life around to TRY... I see no reason why that wouldn't be considered. Does that mean murderers can get away with it? No. That is one of the core values of religions of the world. Don't kill people. However, we're told to accept one another, and most religious people who I have discussed other religions with have nothing but bad things to say about someone else's beliefs. That, to me, is being hypocritical.

Anyway... I have my own views, and it takes from a bunch of religions, but it makes me feel at peace, and once again, I try not to ignore my instincts.

haha you're the last person who needs to be making that statement. :p

I don't know it all, but I do know what I believe in. I like science, I like facts. I can prove that. Only thing I have in religion is a book written by men some 30 years after the fact, and then re-written several times to fit someone elses skewed take on the writings, and also peoples overzealous beliefs.

I don't like blind faith.

Depends on the book. Some books were written around 30-40 AD.

But it doesn't matter, that's my point in the first place. lol

I heard this quote awhile ago...

"There are no aetheists in foxholes... when there's gunfire, everyone's praying"

sorry guys gotta say it, i believe in God and Jesus as my savior, i never throw it in anyone face though, i know where i am going when i die, to each is own so if flaming starts leave me out of it.

and i know where i'im going to go when i die.

in a pile of dirt in a hole and worms will eat me.
