With a bassiclly stock bottom end 7psi would be about the maximum to stay on the side of caution. 9psi would be about the most i would run with that setup.
been running 17 with an FCD for the last year with no issues. Made 204 whp at 10 psi and 238 on 17 both done on 93 octane pump gas and A/F was at 10.9 on both runs

It's a cost issue. I'm not spending $200 on a MBC. I don't car how good it is, no manual boost controller is worth that much. I had a Greddy Profec B spec 2 and i have to say...it sucked. Thing would not hold boost accurately and i'll take solid engineering over...
Don't even bother with a TD05. Go TD06. They're big in the MR2 crowd and can make a decent amount of HP with them. Highest number i've seen was 484whp on E85.
