    comp cams are crap

Its not as if they broke just after installing them they have done a few races, my mates stage 2 cams had done a whole season, they are only made of cheap overseas cast iron, they are no longer "made in America" so Comp have no quality control. If you had faith in your product wouldnt you give a...

    d16a1 swap oil leak

Did you check the bores for roundness, they may not look worn but no.2 and 3 cylinder can get out of round if its been thrashed because of the open deck design. So the bores could still look good but the rings wont seal properly if the bores are out of round.

Few questions about a zc swap into a 90 civic ef .....enyone..?

There are plenty of cheap pipes on ebay , the motors probably stock anyway so just ditch the turbo and fit a pipe, retune your computer and away you go.

About 12 months ago a mates stage 2 comp cam broke into 3 pieces as well as destroying a handful of valves, we put it down to bad luck . A month ago I had a comp cam stage 4 break into 3 pieces destroying 6 valves. Now this is not bad luck. I emailed Comp Cams and there reply was basically bad...

    ZC questions

I have fitted a set of late model pistons ( I think D16Y) in a D16a1 no problems. I bought them off ebay , they have a higher dome and were advertised as giving a higher compression ratio when put in the D16A1 but the quench area around the edge was lower than the standard pistons, so to make...

    A Few LMA Questions

I just got some in from a guy in Asia (singapore I think) the part number on the pack is 14820-P73-J01 hope that helps, they were cheaper than going thru my local dealer. they are at Honda P73 Lost Motion Assembly.

    ZC questions

If you looking for that sort of horse power then maybe you should go darton sleeves. If not mid deck then standard ones with a block guard, try KMS engine developments (they are on ebay as well) for block guards or Endyn should have that as well.

    ZC questions

A block guard is a cheap and wise investment, you will find that the middle 2 cylinders will distort under high load, I had an all motor engine (180 Crank HP) that worked well for a couple of sprint seasons but the 2 centre cylinders ended up 8 thou out of round. Fit the block guard before you...

    A Few LMA Questions

I am assuming this is a B16/B18c head, when you order new LMAs order Integra type R ones, if you have to buy new ones they are the best and the only ones suitable for high lift cams.

    installing an oil pump

I use formagasket non hardening for all my builds, its seals well but unlike all the silicon based gunk out there it wont form hard bits that blocks your oil galleries when it breaks off inside your engine, its easy to disassemble and cleans off with methylated spirits.

    B20 w/ B16 Trans Advice Wanted

You have to remember, how fast do you want to go= how much you want to spend. You should put a decent extractors and exhaust system intake pipe and filter and a chipped ecu. Then to spend more high comp pistons, forged rods, 64mm throttle body. If thats not enough ported head with stage 3 cams...

    Witch cams for my ek4!

Just check the lift on the skunk 2 as they probably have more lift so require better springs, The CTR cams are shorter duration than ITR for better midrange ( 1600cc vs 1800cc ). So its personal choice with them.

    New B16 Swap Clutch Problem

The master cylinders and the slave cylinders should have a size on them, I not sure of the specifics of each model , just make sure if you do any mix and matching they still are the same size, if its the case that you have used a smaller slave cylinder or bigger master cylinder it might be a...

    New B16 Swap Clutch Problem

The thrust bearing is the one on the end of the throw out fork and pushes the pressure plat in, when you pull it out you will see a lip on the inside that protudes past the face of the bearing. Start the car and put it in gear with the clutch 3/4 down , then push the clutch right down, if it...

    New B16 Swap Clutch Problem

If you push the clutch right in and it is hard to shift but back out the pedal a bit and its fine, you will find that it is the collar on the thrust bearing actually touching the clutch plate and causing drag, if you pull it out and there are rub marks on the clutch inner that your problem, you...

    Witch cams for my ek4!

Stick to the honda cams if thats all you are doing but keep in mind that the standard springs and Lost motion assemblies are not suitable for higher lift cams, you must replace the springs with ITR or after market springs (even ITR springs arent good for more than 11.5mm of lift). You should...

    Burning oil under load/heavy accel

If the valve stem seals are gone it burns oil under deceleration when high vacuum sucks the oil past the seals,as it is under heavy load that it smokes its probably rings, your compression can still be good but if the oil control rings are shot it will still suck oil past the the compression...
