    Idle problem

Check for a vacuum leak and clean your fast idle valve (FIV). I have had the opposite problem with a low idle, i cleaned both FIV and IACV and its helped both high and low idles. Clean out your EGR valve too. It could be one, or all or more, its a difficult thing to troubleshoot since soo many...

    Exhaust question

Cool thanks for the info. I tried a different shop this time and i was pleasantly surprised with their work. I just showed up and explained that i have a leak in my collector somewhere and that i have an aftermarket exhaust. In 2 minutes they freed up a lift, looked around and found it after 5...

    Exhaust question

I have an exhaust leak up front. I took it to Honda to check it, also for a valve adjustment. He told me there is a hole in the collector pipe which connects to the flex pipe and that i would need to take it to an exhaust shop. I have a DC sports header, is this something an exhaust shop can...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Thanks for the input, i figured if the IACV was bad it would give me a code. If i unplug it the car idles really badly and sometimes stalls. If i plug up the hole for it it does the same thing, so i figure its still good, im not sure if there is a sure fire way to test it. I dont really want...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Took apart the throttle body (with new gasket), clean it all out, FIV too, screwed it in a bit more, cleaned the idle adjust screw and put it roughly back to where is was. Idle seems to be much improved, sits at 800-900 mostly. However now, when i put the clutch in it bounces off 1100-1300rpm...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Any chance a rad cap could be causing this? I do smell a small amount of coolant burning from it but there is no sign of leaking and the seal looks good, but could a bad rad cap cause say the pressure to be lower thus throwing off the temp sensors and idle? Just brain storming, gonna replace it...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Where is the temp sensor(s), is there anyway to clean them? Ya it is kinda backwards eh. It hasnt reached the normal operating temperature for 2 weeks now and its pretty pretty warm out. Checked PCV valve a few times, it gets suction and the idle lowers when i block it off. Vacuum leak is next...

    Possibly a different idle question?

I have tried that a few times, its got be either a vacuum leak or maybe a fuel problem. Once again the car does DRIVE fine, just the warm idle is nasty. When i put the clutch in while driving, the idle bounces off the 1k rpm and them will slowly drop down to 400-500 and sit there, slightly...

    Possibly a different idle question?

New NGK wires, no difference. Might try cleaning the IACV again.

    Possibly a different idle question?

Im pretty sure the IACV is good because when i block its port the car stalls. Im replacing the spark plugs wires hopefully tomorrow, im hoping its that, the car drives just fine, maybe at idle there isnt as much spark energy making it run bad. Wont know til tomorrow. The timing belt was done...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Ok got a coolant flush and new thermostat and same problem. What would cause the car to not reach full operating temp? The fans are not on all the time either. Now this is starting to get frustrating. Still same low idle. New egr gasket too.

    Possibly a different idle question?

I pretty well ruled out the IAC because when i unplug it when the car is running warm it wants to stall. Ruled out the FIV cause when its cold and i plug the hole it wants to stall and while warm it doesnt change. Switched back any forth between a honda and aftermarket PCVs. Took air filter on...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Ok i pulled the 7.5 clock radio fuse to reset the ECU for 15 mins, started up and idled for a while, still low. Took it for a drive, still low idle, the car just doesnt hit its operating temperature, least the gauge says its not. Even on a hot day like today.... I unplugged my IAC while the car...

    Possibly a different idle question?

So yesterday i took off my IAC and sure enough it was dirty, cleaned it..... didnt help. Ok get this. This morning i was driving around and it was rather cool. My temp gauge was normal and it was idling great. I got back home and decided to try something. I turned the car off and started it...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Lol its a bit odd i guess. I noticed my reservoir was a bit low, so i topped up.. It hasnt been warm the last week or so, ok well not HOT anyway, so i will need another hot day to tell if it was maybe just the low coolant. Either way i im hoping to clean my IAC and get a flush, god knows how...

    Possibly a different idle question?

Yup seems to be coolant/temp related.

    Possibly a different idle question?

Ok so i was driving it around town about 10 mins ago and i pretty well just proved that the idle is in correlation with the temp gauge, its not cold out by any means and the gauge for the first bit was slightly below norm and it was low idle, after a bit longer the gauge went to norm and it...
