87 crx si needs power

I am looking to get more power but I am not rich. The car has 189,000mi so forced induction is out I think .What could I swap in cheap and ez? I am thinking about $500 total for the swap. any ideas would be great.

for 500 you would get like SOHC stock a 1st gen B16 is over a 1000 so you may need to save some more at least thats from personal experience

well your best bet would be to save money but if your lookin for quick and easy go with a d16a6 which is the si motor or you can go with a zc non-vtec motor which will bolt up to your tranny now
