89 5-speed tranny

I am swaping the motor from my 90 crx, there is a guy I can sell my tranny to but his car is a 89 crx.

The auto wrecker are telling us that they are a different tranny. Are they or does it need a few parts off my car to make it work?

im pretty sure this is correct...
all 2nd gen crx trannies will swap with the exception of the 88 (a problem with the number of splines on the main shaft). the difference between 89-91 dx and si trannies are bearing size, and i believe gear ratios. but other than that all 89-91 d series crx trannies should be swappable.

The 89 comes with a smaller flywheel than the 90-91. The 90-91 flywheels fits the 89, but not the 88, no problem. The two best trannys would be from a crx si/civic ex, or the dx tranny from a sedan. There is a diffence between the dx sedan and hatch tranny.
