i just picked up a white 90 crx auto,215k rebult head new timing belt, uses no oil no smoke, with a 2 year old rebult trans<have reciepts for everything>
bought from a older guy who always had the motor fixed and anal about oil changes RUNS GREAT!!

ive gutted most of the interior and plans are to keep street drivable but use it mainly as track/bracket car..so whats the easiest swap for this,i dont might keeping it auto if it aids in the easiness of the swap since i plan on dialing in<bracket racing> when at the track, craigslist has two diffrent 1990 integra ls's for around 1500$ id prefer to get the whole car for the swap so i dont have to "peice" things.

so would the integra drivetrain work?easily? i had a 92 civic b18 ls swap gsr trans and it was a BLAST to drive! i assume the 90 integras ls use the non vtec b18 as well right?
if it would work other then the donor car what else am i looking at? will the stock auto shifter work with the tegras trans? what about fuel pump issues?

or is their anything i could do to the current motor to really make her move, lol doubtfull:(
open to all comments and opinons, please help cause if getting the integra for the swap is the way to go,ill be picking it up TODAY...

you had a maintained, great condition rex and you gutted it and are now going to swap it?
    damn.

what model rex is this? the injection system is the defining point of whether its going to be easy or not.
and have fun converting from auto to manual. i broke my clutch petal off once, changed the pedal assembly. swore to never do that shit again. the second one broke, i parted out the car. loved that car, but theres no chance im changing out a pedal assembly again. ever.

im not sure the badges are gone.how could i tell?..and yeah im thinking more and more into NOT swapping it,AND yes its been well maintained but the rear hatch section of the interior was shot thats all ive removed so far.couple minor rust spots, nothing bad though.just thinking about doing the standard I/H/E and calling it a day my buddy just hit 300k in his civic id like to catch up!
can anyone point me in the direction of a ecu upgrade to get the AUTO trans to shift a lil higher and a better tune..

you have what would be the pain in the ass to swap.
with it being an auto, me personally, i wouldnt deal with it.

that is the dpfi engine (dual point fuel injection)
to swap it, you have to wire in 2 more injectors, change a bunch of shit around.
add on top of that the crap needed to swap in a manual.
and you have a whole bunch of not worth the time.

this is usually the starting point for a car that winds up with a ton of wiring issues and unreliability.

keep this as a daily. keep an eye out for a good crx hx or si shell, those are the ones that arent dual point. and easier to play with.

and i know nothing about the auto ecu shift changes. i have never had an auto honda.

The "motor" code is on the engine. Look for it. It should be D15B something or other.

I wouldnt not swap it just cuz its an auto. I once had a auto 90 Integra... I built it anyway. Well after I converted to manual!

the mounts are different from a DA Auto to stick but the mounts stay the same for ef's and crx's. im talking about the mount positions on the chassis, any b-series swap mounts for ef will work with manual b series going into an auto crx chassis. the pedal assembly is kinda rough though but considering its gutted it shouldnt be too much of a problem. your also gonna need a clutch cable, pr4 OBD0 ecu, mpfi ls dizzy, and 90-93 integra axles. the wiring isnt too rough unless your wiring is chopped up like mine was..im having problems getting the wiring right cause it was so chopped up from previous owner. get a good dpfi to mpfi diagram and do it the way it says and you shouldnt have a problem. your going to have to use your d-series engine harness for the swap also. an LS swap is the cheapest swap you can do into a crx/ef that gives a DECENT power upgrade and isnt that hard to do. unless you go ls/vtec then you need to convert to obd1 which sux but is worth it if you have the money for a b16 or LS/V oh yeah and you MIGHT need a throttle cable because the DPFI on is a good 3-4 inches shorter.

thanks ikar! ive been pondering the ls swap, cause i can pick up a ls equipped teg stick for pretty cheap,so buying a whole donor car would be the way to go then right? will the fuel lines/pump from the crx work?

He made a few good points, however you dont have to convert to OBD1 to run LSVTEC...

AS for the swap specific questions, refer to the "swap articles" section on here.

    MPFI wiring...

allright as luck would have it,a freind of a freind...has two crx's both swapped the one he is currently driving has a ls motor/trans with bolt ons,and the wrecked one has a gsr motor/trans swap
so.......the deal is if i help him swap the gsr into his rex i can have the ls motor/trans
i also have to buy him some new axles and a alt,but thats nothing,,the ls smokes a lil and burns a LIL oil but i plan on a full rebuild before i even think about putting it in my rex...i assume this swap for him should be pretty easy,im gonna change the harness, ecu form the donor car into his...should be pretty straight forward!
and what size is the axle nut on both the d series and b series axles?
its cool cause i can steal everything i need to swap mine and convert to manual, shifter, cables, pedals, etc:driver:

my son is a liscensed honda tech. he is on his way over here from getting his prelude and his jdmh22 put in his name. i will have him answer all your questions. now as far as doing swaps. that what me and him do at our shop! i believe the hardest one so far was the 86 crx. we swapped in a d16zc i believe. it was a dual overhead cam and it was the japan engine. we had to fab or make all the brackets so it would fit. and it was a very tight fit. the car was a light car. and had a little ove 90 hp stock. the engine we put in had 130 if not more. this little car got wicked fast for stock. he has a full integra gs-r with a programmer, and a vtech controler. and the 86 was about a car behind in the qtr. so any swap can be done. and if it is a swap like you are talking about then it should not take you no more than half a day. me and my son did a full swap from a 94 crx and a 92 civic in a hr and a half. but we do it all the time. honda's are real simple.

the biggest issue is already linked to you by brian. the mpfi conversion.

the rest can be found in the reference sections and by searching.
this is a common swap, information should be more than abundant.

its only not an issue if you swap over the complete body harness as well.
which means taking the dash and everything under it completely out. and all the way through the fenders, and shit.
    not worth it.

the harness from the donor car will not work with yours. your body harness (which includes the ecu harness) is still pinned out for dpfi. its not plug and play.

Rywire - Online Store go there and see what they charge. i believe you have to send them both the original harness from your car and the donor harness (as long as they are both obd-0) and they will assemble a harness thats almost plug and play. in the range of $150 i think and worth every penny of it. saves hours of hassle and headache.

dude my 91 crx b18a1 is a blast to drive and its just a 94 integra base model engine, hasport makes motor mounts to drop them right in, and just yank your harness, ecu, brakes, and cv joints and your ready to roll
