Alright so at a local dealership is a 1995 Honda Civic manual clutch, power windows, locks, all that good shit. Anyway it's got aftermarket: air intake, spark plug wires, blaaah blaah blaahh. Anyway the bad is it needs a bumper, all four fenders, trunk, hood, passenger headlight, seats, carpet etc. (most of this I was planning on replacing anyway). The dealer wants $700.00 for it. It has a non - vtec engine (dont know what it is but it's not vtec). Is this a good find? Would it be worth it in the long run? I'm not afraid to do an engine swap either.. so input would be appreciated.

we can't judge it without pictures.

if it's a running car and legally drivable, i bet you could get it for $400 if the sticker says $700. but for that price, i would pay $100 and have a mechanic inspect it. state laws require dealerships to allow an outside party inspection. if they wont let you, turn and run.

but you are looking at another $1500 minimum to fix it up. I would say it's not worth the time and effort. for that price you can find something that doesn't need fixing. if you just need a drivable junker, then go for it.

I have a 91 accord that I'm selling and will be gone saturday for $1,000+ and I just happen to have about 6 grand sittin around so, I was just wonderin' if there's enough aftermarket parts out there to get a car that will beat/keep up with a Mustang GT.

if i was you, i would find a clean little hatchback with a gsr swap. you can find them for about $4000 if you shop around. i/h/e and some good tires, you'll beat the mustang. but a stock civic with a few bolt on's will lose.

Well if you're talking strictly a "drop-in" type of swap, then the B-series doesn't exactly fit that description, although they're not hard to do by any means...

or is there another engine that would go in that's DOHC? I'm not doing the engine swap myself I'm having a local mechanic shop do it so if it's a little tougher then it doesn't really matter.

You probably don't want that motor. It's designed for gas mileage, not performance...

There are plenty of dual-cam engines that will fit your car (B16/B18/B20/H22/etc.). How much are you willing to spend? If you want a dual-cam engine that's cheap and that will drop in and bolt up to your stock tranny, then your only choice is a dual-cam ZC from Japan.

If you're willing to spend a little more, you can a B16 fairly easily...

if the mechanic is familiar with swaps, they can do it easily. probably cost $400-$500 dollars. don't pay much more than that.
