96 civic starts but runs rough then shuts off

96 Civic starts - ran while cold, once it warmed up it would shut off.
Replaced the fuel filter, sounds like the fuel pump runs, still same issues - although it will stay running.
When I press the gas pedal it's very sluggish, acts like its wants to shut off - same thing under the hood...
Ideas???

Check timing or maybe the distributor.
