At www.pattakon.com a new Continuously Variable Valve Actuation system is presented, with working prototype photos, plots and animations (even stereoscopic ones).
Any engine, racing or normal, can be improved as the torque can be about constant from very low revs to the top allowable revs of the engine.

Comments? Objections?

BMW has been doing this with the VANOS and double-VANOS systems for a while now

BMW is doing this with the combination of valvetronic and double vanos.
BMW can actually change the lift only of intake valves, as it is not capable for controlling exhaust valve lift.
BMW needs drive by wire.
BMW valvetronic cannot stand the loads at high revs.

The new system seems simpler and more effective, it does not need drive by wire, it can be installed in new and used engines, it controls all, intake and exhaust valve lifts, it acts as an intelligent VVT system too, it is pure mechanical with lessen parts and friction, it is finally a geometrical solution to the problem of "changing the valve lift while keeping constant the valve clearance" and not a compromise.

Thanks.
