okay well heres the story, i just recently did a d16y8 swap in my 92 lx. well i went to check the oil and for some reason opened the oil cap ( car was running) then it started to sound like a fog horn, because air was comming out of the hole.

im clue less as to why this is happeneing.

note. motor was sitting for couple months.

question: why is air comming out of the oil cap (when its off) and what might be wrong, and how can i fix it?

thanks for the help.

keep the cap on

can you notice any "air" when the cap is on???
if you can you need a new gasket on the oil cap

there is a lot of shit moving around under there
this causes turbulance
thats what you felt

Don't forget that the crank case is vented into the valve cover, which is vented into the intake, so any air coming out is most likely pressure from the crank case. However... if your rings are bad, that could cause air to come out the oil cap. If the engine is old and burns some oil, do a leakdown test to see if you have bad rings.
