altenator?

hi im new here, and looking for answes on my 94 accord, the previus owner toldme tha he changed the altenator,i see that he put a brandnew one ,
but yet the the battery wont get charged, and when the engine is on,
if i unplugge any of the battery cables it will turn off,.and i just did a engine replacement any tips on this?...
