curious if there are octane boosters that do what they're supposed to do? reason I ask is because my buddy just got his e90 M3 shipped in from Germany.. says min 98 octane which is the highest there.. well, here in CA all we have is 91... thoughts?
Stay 200 rpm away from redline and you shouldn't have any issues. The computer will pull some timing on its own to compensate for the slightly lower 91 fuel.
I mix 100 octane race fuel with 91 octane (both at a pump near me) to achieve 93-94 octane for my kswap.
My 4.7 V8 4Runner is supposedly okay on 87 octane but I ping all over the rpms when I step on it. I bumped it up to 89 octane and it went away. The V6 Yotas need 91 b/c of the higher conpression.
So....you friend will know what to do based on the sound of a ping (or absence...hopefully)
High octane unleaded fuel can be ordered in barrels.
