considering cluster computing is what these guys do, im sure he had his reasons.
For a lot of work it's dealing with specific, large-volume processes that are optimized in graphics cards and consoles.

so why dont they have cell processors for desktop computers? or for more conventional computers rather than having to use graphics processors or console processors?
Because you dont need the kind of power they offer. It's application dependent.
