Whats up everyone? Would swapping out a automatic tranny with a 5 speed manual require a change in the ECU?

You can usually modify the ECU to work with a manual transmission, but I would recommend changing it out with one that matches the new engine you're putting in... assuming that you're swapping at the same time.

You wouldn't.

BTW - Pills article is nice, but fails to mention the AUTO chip that you so-called just converted is still running the AUTO fuel and timing maps.

And YES, there is a difference in performance between the stock AUTO and stock MANUAL coding.

yea. .chances are when most people do that auto/manual conversion they are using a different program or something of the sort..
i should add that.

Hi guys...Since yal talking about transmission...Is actually manual is fast or better then an auto??? Or they both just work the same thing...and equal in purpose of driving?

Automatics are faster in theory...

BUT....

Honda automatic transmissions are not well known for holding power, and there in lies the problem with racing an automatic transmission.

If somehow you could get the auto tranny to a higher stall speed, and more holding power, then you would have the faster car over a manual transmission due to shorter shift times.
