ok now heres the problem i am all about auto crossing i love it i go to the track alot. but what im wondering is if its better to have longer or shorter gears for the track . the reason im deciding this is because i havean si trans in my garage and a dx trans in my car. and im running turbo. so is it better to have a shorter gear or longer gears?

its really a tough call
shorter gears = higher RPMs = higher power
longer gears = less shifting = more time on throttle

it honestly could go either way

shorter gears = faster acceleration

between a dx and si trans the si wins hands down

that would be in a drag race.....he's talking about autoX.

id say shorter, but thats my driving style. I shift a lot and i know exactly where the power is in my car. If you arent a comfortable shifter (quick on the clutch and the shift) id say go with longer, but if you are like me and power over corners you lose traction in, go with the shorter setup.

Yeah I know, do you not accelerate out of corners, down straight aways?

yes you do accelerate out of turns, but most of that time its actually turning and braking. i guess its whatever feels balanced to you.
