B16 Swap 98 Civic 36 Code

Hey again guys,

Just got the OBD1 B16 swap done in a 98 civic. I am having trouble with vtec. I have been throwing a 36 code which is traction control found on JDM ecu's. I have vtec in first gear but as soon as I get into second, no vtec. I go back to the shop to find a 36 code. This is an OBD1 engine/ecu. Anyone have any insight on this code? Thanks.

thats a auto tranny code swap your ecu out to see if that will fix it

I had this exact engine/transmission/ECU in an EG. I never had that code. I had also received this 36 code in my race civic which is an 88 shell with a OBD1 B16 (diffent motor and ECU) I just figured this code at that time came from my burnouts. Now I wonder. I believe I should be able to tell by the ECU if it is a auto trans ECU. I'll check. Thanks for the reply!
