I was reading the building an ls/vtec article and read the part about crv/vtec motors and how the pistons do not have good valve reliefs and so you should buy aftermarket pistons, but then stock rods will not work with them. IS that right?

My question is this:

I have after market pistons in my block, so does that mean I must have aftermarket rods, or is it possible to use stock rods?

thanks

The valve relief issue is for the pistons it self but since you have aftermarket pistons made for a crvtec swap then your all good. BUt a good suggestion is to either get some forged rods or at least arp rodbolts for the rods you do have, this will help for reliability

HI buddy.

You can use stock rods, its easy, but it costs money. Just take the rods to the machine shop with the pins to the pistons and have them make the rods floating pin.

Print this out, and take it with you if you don't understand. they will understand.
