Can you paint Carbon fiber?

I've searched and it seems like a stupid question, but im just wondering. To me it would seem like you can primer and paint anything, but I've never gotten a definitive answer on it.

the only true way to do this would be to use a candy color over the carbon fiber. If one were to use just a "light coat" of basecoat over it it would look horrible and all blotchy due to the fact that basecoat will zebra stripe and be blotchy until fully covered. candy paint is transparent and can be seen thru such as the pic shown here
