This is an article one of my miata buddies sent me, the article shows that using Toulene, which can be found at paint stores I take it, can be used as a octane booster. The link has a good FAQ that deals with the safty of the stuff, and this site is well researched too.

When I do my swap I am definatly going to try this as an octane booster to try and get towards 93 or 94 octane from California's 91 octane, it should help out at the auto-X events.
 
somewhere in this forum there is a great thread about too much octane harming performance more than helping,it is a good read
 
derr,just noticed you are using it to beat detonation......sorry,the thread is still a good read tho :blink:
