The PS3 is WAY overpriced. So is the Xbox360. Granted they are decent systems, but the Wii has the price point plus wireless technology nobody can touch (think Wavebird)

    I <3 my wavebirds.

I think one thing the Wii has going for it.
At release they have Zelda, Metroid, Rayman, and a few other big name games.

Wii doesnt have HD and only does 480P I believe. Sigh,

I bet the Wii games will be a total blast, Nintendo IMO has always made games that were really good and unique.

At the end of the video game wars there's only one way to do it.

    own all systems =)

Fancy graphics do not a good game make.

Nintendo also managed to get Square to make more than just one game for the Wii. Hopefully they've learned never to say this wonderful line again:

Talk about kicking yourself in the nuts.

It was when Square decided to release FF7 on the Playstation because it was a disc based system as opposed to the good ol cartridges that Nintendo stuck with through the N64.

History of video game consoles (fifth generation) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cartridge vs. disc debate came to an infamous climax during the release of Final Fantasy VII. Despite the fact that all six previous Final Fantasy games had been published on Nintendo systems, the series' producer, Squaresoft (now known as Square Enix), chose to release Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation. In response, Nintendo's president publicly stated that Nintendo didn't need Square's business, because "Square's games were dull, slow, and gamers did not want to play dull, slow games". This incident provided a highly-publicized denunciation of Nintendo's cartridge-based system which caused negative publicity for Nintendo.

It was a huge thing. CD games stumbled for a long time. The Sega CD and TurboDUO were two of the first and both were... lackluster to say the least. The Sega CD relied on the Genesis' pallete of 512 colors, only 64 of which could be displayed onscreen at once... and they tried to make full motion video with that?!? Of all the SegaCD games which proudly advertised this (extremely crappy) full motion video, the one game which didn't use one bit of FMV stands as the greatest SegaCD game ever released: Sonic CD.

And that's the way Sega should have gone. Instead they used it as a gimmick to smack around the SNES a bit.

The TurboDUO was plagued with load times and a sheer lack of games. Not to mention the TGX was an 8 bit system wearing 16 bit clothes. Tsk tsk, NEC.

Then there's systems like the 3DO... came, went, history.

Nintendo worked on a CD based addon for the SNES but a few disagreements came up and they ditched it. We know that piece of hardware today as the Playstation. So there's a bit of irony in that Nintendo lost their grip on the video game market from what was supposed to be their killer CD addon *AND* lost the biggest RPG producer to that very same system.

When Nintendo does something good, they do it GOOD. When Nintendo fucks up, ho-lee SHIT do they fuck up but good! There's no grey area for the big N there.

I got to play that on the Jag. It was a rather decent game. The Jag's controller reminded me of the Intellivision.

Did I just give away my age?
