Custom Air Intake

Since my 83 chevy truck has a pretty restricktive intake,I was thinking about making my own pipe and buying an element. I also have an air cleaner over the carb, so could I do this. If you know how or have a link, please tell, thanks.

yes you can make a custom intake. all you need is piping that will fit the manifold and a filter that will fit the pipe, and maybe some clamps.

yeah you can, I made my first intake for my ride and it was a CAI and it was pretty quiet. go with JC withney, they have mandrel bent piping and it goes for pretty cheap.

Use the air cleaner housing off a mid 80's Camaro with a 305 it is a dual snorkel setup. If you use the air cleaner lid that is presently on your truck with the new housing you can run a taller air cleaner. just run the ducting from the housing to the grill cut 2 holes in the rad support if necessary. In the end you will have a cheap ram air setup with all GM parts
