red m. tdc mark
is that ok like that

uh, you are talking about two different types of timing.
The mechanical timing of the motor you measure on the pulley. The only mark that I know of is the tdc mark on the crank pulley. To set ignition timing, you set the little timing advance dial on the back of the timing light to what ever you want, apparently it is 16 degrees advance according to B18C_NA, and them you attach the little thing hang off of the timing light to the #one cyl. plug wire, and aim the light at the pulley. if the light makes the mark on the pulley stationary, you're good, if it moves, or you can't see the mark, turn the distributor until you can. Hope this helps.
