I was thinking of rebuilding my vx's engine. I was wondering how much it would cost to rebuild myself on average and how much on average for someone else to. I no there's no power in those engines but I enjoy getting 50+ mpg

I've heard around $700 for a shop to do it but I'm not sure if it's a complete overhaul or if that's just labor, etc.,

You can get kits for about $200 but they do not include a water pump and some of the bearings may be out of spec(just make sure to clearance them)

Ebay stuff are usually fine(most are actually pieced from name brands); but you can get all the parts from dealership and auto-part stores.
