D16y8 98 and 99 will they interchange

    i have a 99 civic with a blown D16y8 motor. I found a 98 D16y8. but they say it wont interchange. whats the differnce. is this true or can i make it work. what will have to be changed or modified. this is my first honda.

    You'll just need to do some minor wiring changes. The 98 engine is OBD2A and the 99 engine is OBD2B. I would recommend that you contact Rywire for the details... Rywire - Online Store

    what about swaping out all the sensors and distributor is this something that can be done.

    Yeah, you could do that. Just use all the accessories from the older motor...

    Yeah, swap the 99 sensors and accessories to the 98. It will plug right up after that.
