I was just having a serious conversation with a few people, about the person they want to be. So who do you wanna be ?

You wanna be the guy that has all the answers ? You wanna be the person that's last to bed, first to wake up ? Do you want to be the best driver out there ?

    I'll start :

I want to be an awesome biker. I wanna be the guy that has mastery control over his machine. My friend's dad is this guy, he takes ANY bike and does amazing things with it. He's an artist, the ground is his canvas and a motorcycle is his brush. This guy WHIPS with antique harleys and scooters, and he is only like 5 feet tall too. I wanna be that guy.

    Anyone else ?

I want to be knowledgeable in building engines and have more overall car knowledge. I see guys on here that have years of experience and I want to stay on track and be right there with them, able to answer almost any question and help anyone with any problem...that wants to be helped of course.

I believe this to be the most difficult task that modern (straight) man must undertake. I wish you luck;)

As for myself, I know I'll be fine as far as careers are concerned as soon as I'm done with grad school. What I really want to do is to be able to play guitar and just fucking shred right there with the greatest players. Whether they be the classics like Santana and Hendrix, or the metal masterminds that I idolize, like James Malone from Arsis and Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom. They fucking rip!

This is an ongoing problem my girlfriend has with me. i don't really know what i want to be. i guess i just strive to be the best at the simple things.

I try to be the best boyfriend, son, brother and eventually father that i can be.

I don't need to be wealthy beyond comprehension. I just want a few cars, a boat, and some time off to vacation.

This is me thinking rationally. if i could, i would be a famous musician or movie star, maybe formula 1 driver, or NFL star. but it isn't realistic.

The problem here is that people can want to do something, but they aren't striving for it. take steve for example, not to pick on you, but how much riding do you do (not commuting or cruising)? how many classes and demos have you done. how much equipment do you have? how many track days have you gone to? how many bikes have you actually built? It takes a huge step in mindset to be the best at something or to accomplish a dream.

I want to do a lot, but i'm not striving for it. so i'm being real and trying to be the best person i can. it's the only thing i have daily control of.

Mu point. Doesn't matter how I am at the handlebars NOW. I'm asking about what you (me) wants to be.

I won't allow your limitations to be grafted unto me. I have made it very far in my career without much formal training, and I have done the same in many aspects of my life.

I continue to strive to be really good on bikes, but because I am not following your (or any) predetermined path to success, don't assume that I won't be successful. That's not fair.

i will never limit anybodys success. I had no intentions whatsoever in attacking you personally. i have very much respect for you.

i'm just stating it takes a lot of mindset for someone to strive for this type of achievement. I don't know you personally, but I applaud anybody's efforts who is willing to strive to reach their goals.

I want to be the person who knows a lot about what he does, does it well - but never acts cocky, or self-important. There are a few mechanics that I know that I would very much like to emulate. Walk softly and carry a big stick - figuratively. They know their shit, they do amazing work, know everyone there is to know, but they are never acused of being know-it-alls or douches.

But I know one thing for sure, I do not want to be "that guy".

This old man that rides, has been riding for 45 years. I may never have his talents on two wheels. I respect his abilities as a result of his experience, and if I'm lucky to have another 45 years or so riding, then I strive to be that old man.

Talking to my friend, he's not much of a father.

But you know, like driving a car. I am an awesome driver, but I can take a car that I am a master of and go to autocross - Chris Furhmann shows up and takes a fucking coffin around the course and halves my time. I won't get in a car pilotted by him though. Our successes and goals are hard to describe, and that was the intent of the thread.

"I want to find a girl that isn't a retard" is in no way keeping with the topic, nor is pining over what you want. I wanna know what you people want to be.

    Some interesting reads.

I want to be able to work a non-stressful, mildly physical 25 hour a week job to keep me active while maintaining a profitable career in music. Would like to go on a broad tour with a band at least once and keep active in the local music scene.
