difference between d series tranny

i have a tranny off of a d16a6 and another tranny that im unsure of which motor its from either another d16a6 or a d15... are there any physical differences between the 2 trans. to help me tell the difference?

as long as it's from another d-series motor within the same model years the trannies shouldn't be physically different.

Pretty much no way to tell the difference on the outside except for bearing size on the hydro transmissions. To know what you have, you have to open it up and count the gears, rotate the shaft(there's an example on HT IIRC), etc.

The USDM transmissions (88-91) all had the same gear ratios except for the HF. The only differences between the trim levels were the final drives (except HF)- all the 1-5 gears were the same.

yea that true the FD is teh only diff. so ifu have a dx tranny not much work to make it si.
