ok, got a router, was able to get rid of the sbc yahoo "helper" which freed up a shitload of resources..

anyways I got my ps2 hooked up to the router as well.

the computer runs fine connected to the internet, but now the ps2 wont connect to the internet so I can play socom 2...

any ideas on how to fix it? i tried to mess with the ps2 network adaptor settings, but there was nothing I could find to set......

it obtains an ip adress automatically and all that.....

did you try to reset your modem after you plugged the ps2 into the router?

everytime I put something onto my router I reset my modem. (cable)

yup reset it.....

still wont connect...

wondering if the ps2 ethernet is compatible with a router....

or do I need to configure port # 2 (port the ps2 is connected to)
on the router to work with the playstation?

your PS2 is probly still trying to use the old setup procedure

go through and reset it

what E said.

you need to reconfigure the PS2

you're router is proably set with an IP of 192.168.1.1

so set the PS2 up with a static IP address of 192.168.1.5
and you also want to open the port forward range 0-65535
for the IP address that the PS2 is using.

if you go dynamic , auto get IP addy, then you could still end up not being able to play games or have some strange problems.

what router did you buy I can probably talk you thru the menu's
if I know what one it is. hell you couldn't enable remote management and I could configure it for you.

hey i got it to work !!!!!!!!!!

it was in the network configurations...forgot exactly what I did, but it was something like "non-automatic login"

woo hoo

thanks again :D

ok im back ... took a little longer than planned (had to drop a deuce)

get to the screen where you can choose to "create/edit network configuration"
- chose delete setting
- pick your memory card

now setting it back up
- add setting
- pick memory card
- "SCE/Ethernet (network adaptor)
- ID and Password "not Required"
- set the IP "auto"
- set the DNS "auto"
- name "setting 1" (doesnt really matter what its called)
- press "X" button to save
- "OK"
- "test connection? "YES"
- "X" button

test should be successful
then your all set
:)
