This is for post is for a buddy of mine. He has a '93 Civic hatch with a '94 GSR powerplant. When it starts up it idles up and down until it warms up. We checked for vacuum leaks and we're sure it's not the Air Control Unit. It has a B16 ECU, not too sure about anything else with regards to that. Any suggestions on a good ECU or maybe something from Hondata??

:withstupid: but again, i've said this a million times to these surging idle problems, but it could be the intake manifold gasket too don't just check vacuum lines
 
get crazy with the starter fluid. If you get that fucker to surge, spray harder until you find the leak.

Another thing to do is take the IACV off the back of the manifold and make sure the screen on it is not clogged or dirty.

Another thing to try is to DISCONNECT the Fast Idle Thermo Valve - run direct to IACV. This sometimes will make things worse, but most of the time it will improve things. You really should take it off altogether and make a blockoff plate, but you can run with it unplugged if you take it off to make sure it isn't getting stuck open.
