you gotta remove the clear plastic guards inside the connector. Theres two tabs on each side that you have to push in (i used needle nose pliers) in order to get it out. Once thats out the pins remove easily with a paper clip or safety pin. It took me a total of two hours to figure this out after riping a few wires by pulling on them.
