Wondering about the longer term effects of running a CEL Code 12 (faulty lift sensor), e.g. carbon build-up, etc...

Been getting the code for awhile now in my '92 Accord, played with all the wiring and vacuum tubes related to the EGR valve and it went away but is now back pretty consistently over 30/40 m/hr.

I haven't noticed any appreciable decrease in performance or mileage, and wondering if the faulty lift sensor will result in any longer term issues with the engine, such as excessive carbon build-up or increase in oil contam. (I pulled the intake and lovingly cleaned out all the EGR ports a couple years ago, and am running a new cat, would hate to see it all gummed up...).

I plan on replacing the valve in the future, just right now trying to prioritize since I need brakes, ball-joints, wheel bearings, etc and the part is a little spendy....

Thanks,

Dan
