yeah i just swapped a b18c into my 97 civic dx coupe. now i know the b18c is the jdm motor but ive seen on sites it being listed as being a integra type r motor and a integra sir g motor im just trying to clarify this

JDM motors don't use numbers at the end of the code. Yes the GSR and ITR both had B18C's, you can tell which is which by a couple things, such as the intake manifold, and stamping on the head and block.

Wouldn't the B18c Type R have a red top and the SiR have a black top valve cover?

cant go by that.. its 6 nuts to change a valve cover

easiest way to tell is definatly the intake manifold

well if you're getting the motor directly from a company like HMO i'd say you could go by that... but, good point.
