Ok so when i start my car it will idle fine then my rpm gauge go all weird and then the car dies. it was just running fine like 30 mins ago when i drove home. then i went out and started it and drove off and died at the top of my street. what would cause this i checked all my distributor caps and there all fine and plugged in so idk if my engine is just starting to go. It was rebuilt like 65k ago so i dont think it is but i do have an idle prob i think i need a new Idle Control Valve. IF that goes all the way out would that cause this to happen?

it could be the alternator!! mine did that before i changed it. sometimes it would be good and sometimes it would do that. then the lights started dimming after a while, and i knew it was the alternator.

take it off and take it to autozone, they will test it, or test it yourself
