Brand new to this forum. Have some questions about an h22a swap into my accord (probably many more to come). I know you guys are a lot more knowledgable about this stuff and would appreciate any help/advise that may be offered.:)

I'm looking into an h22a swap for my accord. I've called around and got a variety of different answers.

I'm not trying to win races...well, maybe some.;) All I'm looking for is a whip with a little PULL that's comfortable on road trips if you guys get my drift.

My accord is currently an auto and I've heard enough about trying to put a stick into it that makes me question whether it's reliably possible. I also know enough about the swap in that burying the tach on the accord gauges is a kick that I want a piece of.

Will an auto h22a swap be a direct install and is it worth it? I've seen that auto trannys are cheaper that manual but is the FUN factor still there? I know anythings better than what I'm running now. Also, I hope there may be some of you that put a manual swap into an auto accord that can enlightened me.

Sorry about the length but I'm new and detail oriented. ANY advice or, even, opinions about my plans would be really appreciated.

I have a 94 coupe ex sorry it was already 5sp, but I just had my H22a swap in for about 3 months now and I love it. The only thing I regret a little is I should have gotten the H22 5sp tranny as well. It's all good though because I'm saving my money right know to go get it. It was a direct install for us. It's like putting a stock motor back into your accord. The only thing is you will have to get a prelude driver's side engine mount or get the direct fit hasport mount that they make which is what I did to save time grinding down a prelude mount. You will have to wire in the knock sensor and IAB sensor. Not hard at all. I love the sound of vtec know. It sounds nothing like the sohc F22b1 I had. Once I get my tranny I will be getting Prelude Type S cams and pistons which will put me at 220 hp stock. You will not regret it. I'm not sure how the auto swap work, but it will be better than what you have know I'm sure.

Once everythings is installed correctly you shouldn't have any worries about reliability because you will do the normal timing belt, water pump, and etc. Should be just as reliable as the stock motor.
