hard time starting

i have a 89 hatch with a d16z6, i just fully built it with high comp pistons. but ever since the swap it takes my car a long time to start. if i just crank it it starts after like 12-20 seconds, but if i play with the gas pedal
it takes like 8-10 seconds to start. can someone help out. i know it should take like 2-4 seconds to start or like 3 starter laughs (my car club word for what a honds starter sounds like)

timing maybe and i dunno i this is true but i could see it happening the higher compresstion your motor is the head itll be to start
