head swap/ dark exhaust smoke

I have a 95 Civic CX with a d15b7 block with a d15b8 (16 valve) head swapped on to it. Whenever I accelerate I get an dark exhaust cloud behind my car and it feels like the motor cuts out for a second or two. From what I have read it seems like it is running to rich? Or perhaps the timing is off? Any info would help. Thanks.

Def check the timing belt, but you would notice a difference in power more than the black smoke. How many miles are on the block cause that is a classic sign of bad rings.
