I think I posted in the wrong forum last time, here's a link to the details
https://hondaswap.com/civic-crx-ew/87-civic-cooling-system-help-76105/

I am doing the disassembly, but I would like to know about things that aren't in the shop manual. I read that the 1.5L engines are prone to hot spots and frequent head gasket failures due to weak OEM gaskets, so I want to make sure I get this right the first time. I don't want to be back behind the timing cover for another 90k if I can avoid it, my powersteering unit is a bitch to work around and so is all that calipornia emissions gear.
Having said all that, should I be ok with the OEM gasket? Are they better now (this is a D15A2 1.5L carb job). Do I need to replace head bolts?(are they torque to yeild) or is it just a good idea? Does $120 sound resonable to pressure test and resurface a head?. Last question, after I remove all the bits of gasket from the block do I need to do any surface prep other than make sure its oil free?

Thanks!
