Actually...blame the US Doctors and their Greedy habit's....
in the countries that have an national health care system, the doctors are all paid the same, and they are paid by the government. Plus the hospital rooms are much like an open loft with curtains, so all the hospitals save more money for actual operational items like surgical tools and things that are really needed to save a life.
Unlike here in America, where HMO's are not rated in a set system, but on the income that they can produce, as also the doctors are not paid by the actual operation that they do, but they pro-rate each operation differently...and they also have to make more money so when they do botch up an operation and get sued, then they can still afford the 3.5 million dollar house and the 4 Porshe's that is in the garage. The American Doctor lost all honesty when de-regulation hit in the 70's, and then the American health care system only helped the people that could afford it. Plus hospitals spend to much to make individual rooms with a cable TV, and full lounging area for the pateince's and their visiting family's...so they can charge more to the normal public when they have to stay the night. If your living paycheck to paycheck....you really can't afford a hospital stay or even the insurance to help cover it.
I've done many plans in the past, In Japan, their national health care was the best I saw, only $60 a month..and if you went all year with out useing it, then you get a $300 refund at the end of the year. If you do use, then you only have to pay a pro-rated set charge for the services provided.
That will never happen in America...only becuase that would force the real doctors into a normal blue-collar job...and their pride would be broke.
