So there was an
earth-shattering kaboom last night, sounded like a nearby lightning strike but triple the intensity. I thought it might have been a sonic boom. Then I found this article in the morning:
Explosion levels Long Grove home, no immediate reports of injuries
It was at least 4 miles away and it rattled the entire house. Amazingly our son didn't wake up! He wakes up if you creak the floorboards but he stays asleep for a natural gas explosion that shakes the whole house like an earthquake. Go figure.
Turns out it was a big empty mansion in a natural gas explosion... Sounds like an insurance fraud thing to me.
