Could a defective battery cause a hard drive to crash? Right now my Latitude D800 is out of commission because of a crashed hard drive.

Kind of off topic but my laptop is still under its limited warranty. Does anyone know if the harddrive is covered under one?

Mine is fine. But if I die in a fire, you'll know what happened cause I leave mine on all night.

I talked to customer service right after I posted. I'm covered until June of next year and that does include the hard drive. I did sense an accent but I had no trouble understanding them. I forgot to ask about the battery though.

me too, but the HD gets hot...battery is always nice and cold. I started turning the laptop upside down on my bed when i leave. if i forget i have to lay it sideways for like 30 minutes before i can touch it. as i said, the hard drive is ROASTING, but the battery is nice and cool.

I guess that's what was getting really hot in mine too. Could it be that my fan had a lot of dust in it that my HD crashed? After it stopped working I happen to clean the fan and it was covered in dust.
